SOCCER TIME!

Eli had his first soccer game last Saturday and we were so excited about it! The day started out great for him - we were outside doing yard work and our little buddy wanted to join us so he went and put on his tennis shoes all by himself (OK so they were Velcro vans and they were on the wrong foot - but he took the initiative to do it) and we couldn't have been more proud of him. We loaded up all the kids and headed out for the soccer game.

We got there, set up all of our chairs, ice chest, 2 shade umbrellas and began snacking. Finally the game was going to start and the coach started with Eli playing. After about 2 minutes of running around and not touching the ball, he was tired and hot and walked off the field and came and hung out with us.

We think he is having a hard time realizing that you have to take the ball from the other team and that they aren't going to just pass it to you and that you have a designated net for your goal. So, after he cooled down we knew we had to get him back out there. Coach Danny McBurney was kind enough to let him go back out and even let me go out there and run up and down the field with him explaining to him what to do. I would follow him around and tell him to take the ball, kick the ball, run faster, etc. He started to get the hang of it pretty quickly. By the end of the game he was having so much fun! We all kept telling him how great he did and how good he was and for the rest of the day he would come up to us and smile and say, "I good at soccer!" Yes, yes you are little buddy!!

He's gonna be a soccer star in no time! (Although he'll be so cool he'll call it football, which is, of course, what it is!) ;)HAHA!
