7th GRADE BASEBALL TEAM!

Eli was most excited to start 7th grade and be on the 7th grade baseball team. The second day of school started the try-out process. We got up every morning by 6:20am and left the house at 6:45am to make sure we were there early, because early was on time. Then I would pick him back up at 8:10am, drive him home to shower and grab his lunch and then we would drive back to school! Friday at 4pm they were posting the first cuts! Eli made it past first cuts! We were so excited for him! HE was so excited! His friends made it too! A couple of nights we dropped off some good luck treats to them too. The team was so hard to pick that the coach extended the try-outs by 2 days. Jared was in Oregon the first week, but was home the second week. On the final day I kept checking over and over and wouldn't let Eli take his phone to school that day because if he didn't make the team I didn't want him to find out alone and if he did make the team, we wanted to be there to celebrate with him. While on the bus he found out his friends all made the team, He got off the bus and saw me and Jared waiting in the jeep for him. He had the biggest smile on his face, our heart sank. He got in the car and of course asked and we had to tell him he didn't make it - he didn't believe us. We finally sadly, convinced him we weren't lying and we were all sad. He fought back the tears, but they were there. The only good thing I could say was, at least you just made MMB and its more important to make the club team then the school team because you will learn more from club than school. His friend's mom convinced us to talk Eli into being the team manager. I was hesitant because I didn't want kids making fun of him. We talked to the coach and it was the almost perfect situation. He would get to practice with the team every morning, go to all the games, but just wouldn't be able to play in the games. He was in the team picture, got the team uniform, etc. At the games he would help keep score and then collect parent signatures so boys could leave with their parents and not have to ride the bus back to school. The coach told the players on the first day that he was the manager and NOT their bat boy! Sometimes it was hard on Eli to not get to play in the games and he would get frustrated, but it was good to show the coaches how much he loved the sport and what a good guy he is. Hopefully it will help for when it comes time to try out for the 8th grade team! The 7th grade team went on to win and become the Division Champs! What a great season for them!

6TH GRADE MIM FIELD TRIP!

 One of the saddest things about kids leaving elementary school is you no longer really get to be apart of their school life anymore. I love helping out at the school and getting to know the staff, helping in the classrooms and watching them interact with their classmates, going on field trips, assemblies, donuts with dads and divas, etc. 6th grade doesn't go on very many field trips because they have their big end of the year Science field trip so I knew when the twins were going to the MIM (Musical Instrument Museum) I had to go on it. I remembered this place well from just having gone with Eli last year. The boys decided this time around they were to cool to sit with me on the bus - they needed to sit in the back with their friends. They are quite the popular little crew! They enjoyed seeing the different instruments from the different countries around the world, but mostly I think they enjoyed being in the room where you get to make your own music...there they got to be the center of attention and draw a crowd around them - ha ha! (Cody Tibbotts, Kyler Frye, Nathan) 

COLLEGE TOUR TRIP!

 Jared and I were lucky enough to sneak away with Emma and go on a college tour road trip! Emma's number 1 choice right now is University of Utah for their medical program. We kind of skipped BYU since we have toured that before as a family, she's been there a couple of times for different sports camps so we didn't feel it was necessary. And we toured UVU. She wasn't that thrilled about this one either, but this was her back up school. Univeristy of Utah was huge and beatiful!! The campus was amazing! She even talked us into buying her a hat & a hoodie. We were able to set up meeting with the spiritline coach as well and introducing her to Emma! We got a special tour of the cadaver lab - it's the biggest cadaver lab this side of the Mississippi River! We got to see their brand new still being build Honors housing (hopefully that's where Emma will be staying) We also heard their Institute was the biggest too so of course we toured that as well and got a free shirt there. It was a long day, but man that place is beautiful! The next day we got to tour UVU. Jared and I whispered to each other that this college was worse than a community college...but it's because it was under construction and they sent us through some weird spot. As soon as the actual tour started and we rounded the corner it was also so beautiful! You can get to every class on campus in the building without going outside which will be nice on snowy days! Emma got free swag from UVU! It was a lot better than we thought, but she still prefers UofU! We thought it was funny that everyone on Utah's campus wears beats to listen to music and everyone at UVU wears airpods...ha ha! We also got to eat dinner with maddie the first night we got here! (Emma actually flew up over the weekend to spend extra time with her), we got to take Sidney Fa'anunu out to ice cream and see her cute little apartment, and we got to see the Entrekins from their backyard...we were supposed to stay with them, but Lily ended up with hand, foot and mouth disease so we got hotels instead. It was a great 3 days! Can't believe we are doing college tours with Emma - that's crazy! We also learned that students attending any Utah college get to use their public transportation for free! 

LAST PRIMARY PROGRAM!

These turd heads were NOT sad it was their last primary program, but I sure was. I was so sad I made Jared take a later flight with me to Utah that day even though it cost us an extra couple of hundred bucks, just so I could watch it. I can't believe I won't have kids anymore in primary programs, tear. These two are so cute! They have come such a long way too! Tyler only participated in about half of them because his anxiety got the better of him and we weren't going to force him to go up there. We waited until he was ready and it was worth the wait. These boys sure do know how to melt my heart!
