SCOUTS SCHMOUTS!

Here are a couple random scout things the boys did...they had their Blue and Gold Banquet and it was Star Wars themed and they had to do a cake for it.  I showed them some options and they couldn't agree so we made all three. They helped me bake them, they did most of the frosting, they put on the reeses pieces, I did the outlining and Jared did the silver sprinkles. It was quite the group effort and they were mighty proud of themselves. They also had a night hike one night and really enjoyed that!

EMMA EARNS HER PERSONAL PROGRESS MEDALLION!

I very kindly encouraged Emma to finish her personal progress up before she started high school. I could see that it was achievable and it would be so much easier to finish it before she got crazy busy with high school. Well she didn't quite finish it before she started high school, but she sure did make good head way on it and finished it before she started her second semester of her freshman year! She did awesome projects, Hope Kids at DC2, baking homemade bread for Sacrament for a couple of weeks, making hair scrunchies and doing baptisms for the dead, a modest fashion show for mutual, learning how to make a Thanksgiving meal, etc. We found that doing fun things with friends made it a whole lot easier to complete. She is awesome and surprisingly wants to work on her Honor Bee. Way to work hard Emmers.

UNIVERSAL STUDIOS!

Santa gave us all season passes to Universal Studios this year (also a computer for the kids which he forgot to leave out Christmas morning - oops - good thing he remembered to drop that off while everyone was at the Jensens)! We left for our trip on Jared's birthday and went to the park all day Monday and half of Tuesday before we had to get on the road and head back home for school. The kids loved Harry Potter World - it was rainy and drizzly just like it would have been in Englad. We tried every kind of butter beer there is, had a few actually! Tyson was obsessed with Harry Potter and had to have a cloak. He never did get one, dang it. I am to old for the rides here, all the 3D makes me sick. I rode every ride with the kids once, after that they were on their own. They rode them over and over and over again! They got a gift card to get ONE magical wand from Ollivanders...then of course when we got in there they sweet talked us into two, and then Tyson just wanted one that lit up so we walked out with 3 wands. Then Tyson just really really wanted to go back and get picked in Ollivanders so I took him back in and worked my magic and they selected Tyson to help them find the magic wand just right for him. He got to do all the magic tricks in front of everyone. Then they excused everyone and we stayed behind and they told him all about his wand and he was soooo happy....then they made me go buy it for another $50, sigh. So we now have 3 magic wands and light up one. Aye yi yi! They had the best time! We can't wait to go back again!
