Somehow the twins and their friends have formed Golf Gang. They get together every Saturday afternoon and go golfing for $5 with the Youth Golf Pass and then they hang out the rest of the night together! It's actually the best! The twins now each have a couple of polos they use just for golf. They prep their waters with Prime in them. They started out with 1 lefty club Eli bought at the BINS and they shared that between all of them. Then Tyler went to Goodwill with a couple of friends and found another lefty golf club and a mini put put golf club so he bought those. Then Grandma and Grandpa Rodgers love golf and finally found something that interest the boys that they know a lot more about so they found a full set of lefty clubs and righty clubs and bought those for the boys and I was at the work storage unit and bummed a free golf bag off of a stranger so now they share and have the best time! Grandpa Rodgers even printed off some information about golf to teach them some things! They are even considering trying out for the ALA Golf Team! ha ha!

3 MONTH CHECK UP!
We went to Jared's 3 month check up appointment. We didn't tell any of the kids because we didn't want them to worry. We knew radiation was coming - the dr already hinted at it. Sure enough, he still had some cancer. His numbers went from 19 before surgery to 0.53 which is low, but he should be at zero.
We told all the kids we were having a family meeting at 10pm and Emma needed to be home for it. She knew what it was about. She brought her support system with her, Hunter. We told the kids. This was a much easier conversation then the first one!
So he sent us to Arizona Cancer Center and we met with the radiologist oncologist to see how to proceed next! He was very nice, so was his staff. We met with him for an hour. It was a lot to take in. Even though we knew we woul be having radiation...I don't think we were prepared for everything that went with it. It was an overwhelming day and I broke down and cried a few times.
My mom called to find out what happened, but I couldn't talk to her because I was in the middle of doing deliveries for work and I had gone to the temple that morning with everyone in honor of Noah Worthen, it had just been a long day. So finally around 9pm, we texted both families....
Sorry mom - I didn’t call you back - it’s been a long day and I haven’t stopped till now….
I’ll just update everyone at once….
Went to Jareds radiology oncologist appt today at the cancer center
This new dr is GOOD!!!
Long story short….
Turned out his cancer was super aggressive - on the Gleason cancer scale Jared is a 9 out of 10
His cancer covered over 70% of his prostate
With his numbers were they are now he does in fact still have tumors and cancer
We have 3 options….
We chose the one that was recommended…it’s the strongest one with 87% cure rate
He started hormone therapy today - it’s a pill.
It will stop his testosterone so the cancer can’t spread
Then in 2 weeks he goes in for a shot of hormones
Then October 9th he goes in to get a CT scan where they will create a map for radiation
Then the week after he starts radiation.
It will be for 39 days straight (with saturdays and Sundays off - it's actually 39 straight appointments and will end around my birthday)
He is a getting a mix of low dose & high dose radiation
First half he should be good, second half sounds like he will see more side affects…
We heard the list of all the side affects and all of them they can fix if they need to (bleeding from his anus, bleeding from his urethra, etc but they can go in and cauterize whatever they need to)
There will be no “couple nighttime routines” for the rest of the 2023 - we will work on that in 2024 after this part is all done
They are also doing a genetic test on his prostate (I think that’s where?!) to see if they expect a different type of cancer to come/form so we can be watching for that too or to see if it will spread?!
I think we get results of that in a couple of weeks
It’s all a little blurry - long day, a lot to take in - we are a little foggy

MIC DROP!
Tyson was asked to give the closing prayer in Sacrament today. It was the best....during the closing hymn he looked at me and told me to feel his hands they were so sweaty - we then giggled about it. Then he told me, "text Brother Hatch and tell him to drop the mic now so it's not embarrassing when I go up there"! So I quickly grabbed my phone and texted Brother Hatch and then I just stared at him. He wasn't checking his phone. I turned to Tyson and I said, I am so sorry buddy, he is not looking at his phone! Then a few more seconds pass and all of the sudden Brother Hatch looks at me and gives me a head nod and we watch the mic slowly being to be lowered! Finally the song ended and Tyson walked up there and had to raise the mic a tiny bit and he began his prayer in the deepest man voice ever! It was the best!! ps - plus a couple of my young women told me how hot he was up there too! ha ha!

WALLPAPER!
Well, I got another wild hare and decided I wanted wallpaper in the dining room - I mean I am 44 years old and never wanted wallpaper before. It took me forever to find something - it's nothing mind blowing, but its subtle and I love it! Amber came over in the morning and we got about a little over 1/3 of the way done before she had to leave. I took a break and then resumed that night with Jared. Well...it took us FOREVER to finish because we kept stopping to try and figure out how to hang the paper without wasting it, without having all these cuts at the end where everyone would see it and without having to order more. The paper itself is easy to hang, it was figuring out the pieces. We sure did hate the process but loved the end result!

ALLERGY TESTING!
Since we hit our health insurance deductible I decided it was time to take Eli and Tyler to the doctor and have them get some sort of surgery that would make them not breathe as loud as they do. The doctor did not want to do surgery. He said it wasn't necessary. Tyler left very happy, Eli left frustrated and I left REALLY frustrated. How could they keep being mouth breathers - they need to be fixed! The doctor insisted they had allergies. So I decided to humor them and I agreed to have allergy testing, but then I was going to find a new doctor to do surgery. Well we showed up for allergy testing and I guess this guy knew what he was talking about! They are allergic to a million things...Tyler is allergic to more things, but Eli his more allergic to fewer things! Their backs exploded in reactions. They are allergic to trees, grass, weeds, if it's outside, they are allergic to it - Eli is also allergic to cats. So now these boys get to go every Monday to the dr office and they get injected with everything they are allergic to so they can build up a tolerance to it and breathe better. We have nose spray, pills and now epi-pens! After they get the shot we have to sit there for 30 minutes and see if they have a reaction. I hope this helps! Fingers crossed - poor buddies!

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!
First day of school - here we go again! Eli is a junior and Tyler and Tyson are freshman! I hate this!! We left the house looking the worst we have probably ever looked, but after school we got a good lecture on doing our hair every morning! ha ha!
RANDOM SUMMER HAPPENINGS!
Eli played baseball this summer (shocker), he played golf with his buddies, Jenn and I showed up at Ashlin's baptism in the same dress but different colors so Shawn called us lemon and lime, Eli started helping to coach the new Jr High Club team called Rebels - he gets paid $250 a month! Emma and I went to Provo the last weekend of July so she could be a bridesmaid in Lexi's wedding and so we could pack up her apartment from the Green which had been her home for the last 2 years - brand new apartment, brand new room and she was in the Honors housing part so she got a discount on rent and it was the cheapest she had ever paid....of course as soon as she moved out and signed a new lease the next day they called her and offered her another year - too late - now she is paying more in a crappier place, oh well. We had the best time at Lexi's reception , Emma looked darling and we danced it up all night as she hung out with her Esprit teammates! Emma made the deans list again, I excuted another Aspen Ortho Patient Appreciation Event, me Jared Rj and Dalton went to a fundraiser night for Sherriff Lamb, there were Temple trips, lots of get together with friends - including random naps at our house and notice they all have holes in their socks, a dessert party for Grandma Jensen's birthday, a shoutout to me at Aspen Ortho on facebook for driving an old man who came into our office and was totally lost as to where his actual dr appointment was - he was 20 minutes south of where he needed to be and a shoutout to Eli for being such a great coach to the jr high boys! And finally Eli got his coveted ALAQC parking pass!
