TWINS WAX MUSEUM!

4th grade wax museum time! Tyson was his favorite Stephen Curry - he looks identical doesn't he! HA HA! Tyler picked his great grandpa who he was named after - Everett Lyle Rodgers. The neatest thing about this was pulling out grandpa's box of treasures and looking at all the awards, medals, pictures, etc. We sat all the kids down and looked at all of it together and talked about WWII. The boys did a great job. They had to make posters, write speeches, research their person, memorize their speech and then say it to people as they walked by and hit their button. We couldn't have been more proud of these two! Even grandma and grandpa Rodgers came to see them!

TWINS EARN THEIR BEAR AWARD!

The twins earned their Bear Award in cub scouts! They were most excited for this because they new it meant they got to go inside a tent and "wrestle a bear". Jared was waiting inside the tent with a speaker and a youtube video of grizzly bear growls and he played that really loud while he wrestled each boy inside the tent and threw out their shoes. All the boys laughed and giggled and quite enjoyed themselves. There was a big debate if the twins would go in together or separate - they ended up going in separate. I couldn't get it on video cause all the scouts crowded around, but the pic of Tyler and Tyson's face beforehand shows their pure excitement! They also got to do the flag ceremony!

MOTHER'S DAY!

I didn't get a picture with my kiddos today - I wish I was better at remembering those things, but I will post this pic of Emmerson - she lettered for her academics - who knew that was a thing?! #nerdalert #loveher #spentherwholeweekendstudying #killmenow

YMCA BASKETBALL!

The twins finished up their spring season of YMCA Basketball. Their team started out rough, but grew soooo much! We lost the first week by 20 points and ended the season playing that same team in semi-finals and only losing by 2 points - ouch that stung! The boys wanted to win that game so bad because they wanted to play the championship game at the Suns Arena. Tyson might have shed a few tears. These boys love this game and we are enjoying watching them grow!

EMMA AND TAYLOR AT DISNEYLAND!

The Asays decided to surprise Emma for Taylor's 16th birthday (yes, you read that right, they were surprising Emma!) so they met us out at Eli's baseball tournament and she was SHOCKED to see them, then they handed her a card and tickets and told her they were taking her to Disneyland! She had no idea! She had packed a bag because we lied to her and told her we were going to the beach for the weekend after Eli's game so she had no idea what was really going on. It took her a couple of minutes to realize she was actually leaving right then during the game and hitting the road to Disneyland! She was so stinking excited! She had the best time with the Asays and with Taylor of course! She even hung out with Alyza and Rj for a little bit a couple of days because they were there too! They got picked to ride the Trolley to the Guardians of the Galaxy ride and were the first ones to ride it that day. Emma got to say hi to Ariel in mermaid form in the paint the night Pixar parade and she heard Emma and waved back and Emma cried because she had just fulfilled her childhood dream! They also got matching shirts, ears and even spent some time at the beach! And basically just had the best trip together! We sure do love Taylor and Emma!

DESERT TRAILS BIKE PARK!

With there being no school and not having Alyza today - we decided to swap cars with RJ and pack up our bikes into his truck and head off for the Desert Trails Bike Park! As soon as we got there we realized that Tyson's bike tire that we had just pumped up at home was flat again so we knew he had a whole in his tire. The boys were so excited about the park I knew they wouldn't want to take turns with their bikes. So I looked it up and there was a Target 1.2 miles away so we loaded everything back up into the truck and ran to Target. Bought Tyson a new bike and headed back to the park. When you don't know how to fix a whole in the tire - why not buy a new $130 bike instead - mom solutions right there! The boys had a blast! It was the perfect day for some outdoor bike fun!

#REDFORED!

With teachers not getting any raises since 2008, they started a movement #Red4Ed - to raise awareness for teachers, schools, support staff, etc. They tried to get a budget raise in place, but it wasn't being put into law so they said they would "walk out". They gave plenty of notice and many weeks leading up to it the schools held "walk ins" and students, teachers and parents dressed in red shirts and stood outside the schools and cheered and tried to bring attention to the matter. They ended up walking out Thursday, April 26th and didn't return to class until Thursday, May 3rd. Lots of marches on the capital, around the city, etc. We dropped off treats to our teachers at Haley, we did a couple of walk-ins and we emailed the teachers our support! The kids loved the random 5 days off. It was crazy town for us parents not knowing each day if the kids would go back to school the next day or not, and it was stressful for high school kids trying to make sure they were prepared for AP tests, finals, not extending the school calendar, etc! This will probably be talked about in my grandkids school years so might as well make note of it!
