The night before school started Emma picked out her outfit, a new dress of course, layed it out with new shoes, etc, she got her blessing and requested pancakes for breakfast.
It was now time to head to the bus stop but this year since the twins were still sleeping the whole family didn't go to the stop, instead just Emma and I went and I took the traditional photo at the bus stop and getting on the bus.
I went to school to help out in the cafeteria like usual on the first day. Emma is still excited to see me at school and gives me hugs - yay!! How much longer will that last?! Emma did spill a little cheese on her new dress and wanted me to desperatly pull out some magic wipes and make it go away and I told her I had nothing but I could get it out at home no problem. Then her teacher picked her to clean off the table (this is cool to do at school) so she grabbed that freaking nasty blue janitor rag to wipe down the table and asked me to wipe her dress clean with that - NO!!!! Emma we never touch our clothes with these - they are discusting!!! (I think she learned after that).
I did find her friend Sydney who we carpool to dance with and she was upset because she wasn't wearing tennis shoes for the first day of PE so I told her I would go home and grab some of Emma's and bring them back. I only did because I remember one time Emma was in Kindergarten and she was upset she forgot her tennis shoes so the teacher called me and I was able to head down there and bring her the right shoes and I knew Sydney's parents would do the same and no one wants to be upset the first day of school so I had no choice really, I had to get her the shoes.
I went back to school in the afternoon to help get all the kiddos on the right bus, its very cute to watch older siblings freak out when they cant find their younger ones in line, I love how they are watching out for them - I pretend its because they love them and not because their parents will kill them if they come home without them.
Emma finally got home with no problems. We had after school root beer floats and went swimming at the neighbor's house. All in all it was a great first day and the rest of the week went just as smooth! Way to go Emma, you are so big!! (stop growing!)

I had to throw out a whole bag of flour that I just bought from costco because of weevils. Man they are gross! How cute that the twins had a play date already!
oh my gosh, her outfits are so cute!!
I had to help Billy get on the bus when we were younger, and I did freak out when he wasn't in line... I should have just left him at the school. lol =)
Sounds like this year was better than the one with the poop arm / bus incident. Emma is way too cute. Um, one question, why are your boys almost naked while playing with girls. Hmmmm. :)
I love the picture of the twins and their new girlfriends. You'll have to have some more play "dates." I left my little kiddos home the 1st day to make sure Isaac found his class alright too... that was nice of you to help your friend out.
You are so nice to make waffles and rootbeer floats the first day... my kids have been a little lacking in fun homemade treats since I can't have them anymore. ;) Youre such a fun mom. :o)
I love the first day of school stories. And love the picture with two sets of twins. You're brave.
