THE LAST JV GAME HE WILL EVER PLAY IN!

It was the JV game of the season and the last game that Eli will ever play in for JV! He played 1st base the whole game, first at bat his a sweet single, next 2 at bats he struck out (I knew he was going to strike out his second at bat - you can tell by his demeanor when he gets up, he was frustrated with his first strike out and went up their with a chip on his shoulder, I tried to shake it out of him like I've done in the past, but it wasn't working and I thought, this is all on him and his bad attitude) and we were down 8-3 and luckily we got to sneak in 1 more inning. Eli was up next in the batting order and by this time the softball team had come over to watch us finish our game and cheer on the boys and all I could say to Eli was, "this is your very last at bat ever on JV, you will never be on JV again! Go get yourself a home run and leave it all out there!" The crowd was loud, he was smiling and what do you know....he gets up there and hits is CRAZY out of the park homerun! Everyone went nuts! It started a rally and we ended the game 8-6, but even though we lost - Eli did his best and that's all I cared about. Coach Jones took off running to go grab Eli's homerun ball and when he came back he told Jared that Eli hit it so far out there he couldn't find it for a while! Another player told me as soon as his bat hit the ball he knew it was a homerun because it looked and sounded just like his first out of the park homerun he hit at the beginning of the season! It was a hard pill to swallow to be on JV again and be the only one, but we are so grateful he got to be with Thompson!! He is SO AMAZING for these boys!! He is exactly what they need and he knows just how to build them up and get them to believe in themselves! We will forever be grateful to him! Now Eli moves up to cheer on Varsity and hopefully they go all the way!! #8 is our favorite!! (Grandma and Grandpa came to Eli's last home game and Grandma was not please with the fact that Eli is taller than them! Eli had another great game that night too and they won!)
