When we got to the ER we went straight in to find Tyson and he had his usual smile on his face and his brothers were there trying to cheer him up and play with him. We hung out for a little bit and then Denise took the boys back to my parents house and then went home. Jared really wanted to give Tyson a blessing and so Blake who was planning on playing basketball that night decided last minute to stay home and we were so grateful for that because Blake hauled buns and hurried over to help give him a blessing...he came baring gifts too - Stephanie had packed a bag with sweats, shirt, shoes (I was in church clothes and wanted out of them ASAP), candy, boy toys (which we were shocked she even had) and a couple of other things to make us all happy. Blake left without oil and Jared didn't have any on him, but I told them both that we could just get some from our doctor - his name was Dr. Udall and I told them there was no such thing as a Udall in Mesa that is not mormon, they didn't believe me and wouldn't ask, um ya, later in coversation with him we found out I was right :)
The doctor had told us it was pretty bad and more than likely they were going to "set" his arm tonight and that tomorrow we would be doing surgery on Tyson. We knew it was really bad when he showed up first at urgent care and Emily Germaine took one look at him and said, "I am not supposed to say this, but get out of here and take him to the ER, its broken!" She even ran and grabbed the doctor there and he confirmed the same thing, so Jared loaded the boys back up and off they went.
When Jared got to the ER, he looked at the long line and cut to the front of the line and showed the lady Tyson's arm and how the bone was about to poke out and she took him back right away. The man behind Jared was really mad that Jared had cut so Jared turned around and showed him Tyson's arm and he shut his mouth, I was so proud of Jared for pulling a Carol.
The guy who came in to take a look at his x-rays dropped his mouth when he saw the pictures and doubled checked with Jared to make sure he had morphine because he felt so bad for him. Tyson was luckily already hooked up to his drip and enjoying life.
After the blessing the Dr Udall and his crew came in to set Tyson's elbow back in place and do something with his forearm. I took a seat outside the room, but Jared and Blake stayed in there to be part of the action. It was so fast. They did their stuff and xrayed afterwards and everyone's mouths dropped, no one could believe what they were seeing. His arm had gone back better than they could have even hoped for. At this point they were pretty sure surgery would no longer be necessary.
We waited another hour or so for the medicines to wear off (he had one to put him into a light sleep and one to make him forget what was happening to him) and just sat back and enjoyed the show. The nurse said the drugs make the kids loopy. Tyson was drooling while trying to talk, he thought the red sensor on his toe made him Spiderman and he was pretty sure he could climb the wall, he couldnt get his thumb in his mouth to suck it, he had zero control of his head or his arm and they both flopped around like a fish out of water, he had a small panic attack when the blood pressure cuff on his calf started taking his blood pressure, he had no idea it was on there and the squeezing of his leg freaked him out. Needless to say, this was the best part of the whole night!

We finally got to take him home about 12:30am. It was a long night but we were so grateful to the staff who LOVED smiley Tyson and so grateful to the Dr Udall for fixing our boy up so great without needing the pins in his arm.

We got him home and made him a bed in our room next to ours for the night. In the morning we woke up and started to go pick up the boys, but sweet little Tyson was in a lot of pain, but was trying not to complain so we turned around and went to get him his Vicodin. That night RJ and Jen came over and brought Tyson Coldstone to cheer him up! The next day Grandma Jensen volunteered to babysit so Jared and I could go have a break, but we were too nervous to leave Tyson at home so he tagged along with us.
He ended up with a soft cast for 2 weeks - it was going to come off after the first week, but because he was looking so good they didn't want to mess with it by putting on the hard cast yet.

A week after his hard cast was on we had to go back and make sure it was still doing good - Tyson thought this was going to be the week they removed it - he did NOT leave happy!

Finally it was time for his hard cast, he was so excited because we thought he would be able to jump on the trampoline then, but we were wrong. Everyone wanted to sign his cast, but being the freak I am, I wouldnt let anyone do it until the last day because when there is writing all over them they just look so much dirtier to me.

6 weeks finally came and went and we got the cast off! Tyson was thrilled to have it off and I was excited to not have to drive to Desert Sam anymore. After the cast came off he still held his arm in the bent cast position and is slowly starting to use it more. It has been a week so far. He still cant make his arm go straight all the way, but slowly its getting better. Tyson for sure is a trooper. He missed a season of football, missed the good trampoline weather but maintained his smile through most of this ordeal - minus a few times when his arm prohibited him from doing things then a few tears came, but that is to be expected.
