1st GRADE BABY!

Well the first day pf school was quite a success. It started out Sunday night with Emma receiving a blessing from her dad that she has been wanting and waiting for since the last day of Kindergarten. Monday morning at 7am Emma came running into our room to wake us up and get going on the big day. We asked her what she wanted for breakfast the first day and she said eggs and donuts because she had pancakes last year (how does she remember that?). Like last year, I sucked it up and let my daughter pick out her first day of school outfit, she has several new outfits from Gap, Tilly's, etc but she chose the Target clearance shirt to wear, kinda funny, oh well. We got her to the bus stop and all the kids loaded up but one did not because her grandma said she was to ride the "red" bus and this one was yellow (the school assigns each bus a color so it is easier for the kids to remember which one they ride and this year ours is "red" which means a big red circle hangs on the side) we had to explain to her that this was indeed the right bus and so she reluctantly put her child on the bus. If any of you remember last year's first day of school (see July 2007) it was pretty crazy so we wanted to make sure things were better this year and still secretly followed her to school. She was a little confused and wandering around so I guess it was a good thing I was there although I am sure she would have figured it out eventually. I got her to her class line to wait for the teachers to come and get them and me and all of the rest of the nerdy parents followed the class to their classroom. I wanted to get a cute picture of her sitting at her desk like last year but before I could get in the classroom the teacher said, "whose first day of school is this...yours or your parents?! Blow your parents a kiss and tell them that you will have a great first day and you will see them at 3pm" and then she shut the door on us...good for her. So this is the best picture I could get. I went to the school at lunch time again to volunteer and help out with the kindergartners on the first day with their lunches and help anyone else who might need it. I did very well and only got teary eyed one time when I saw a little girl with a note from her mom :) I was a super mom this year and actually remembered to put a note in Emma's lunch unlike last year, oops. This year after school instead of kids getting off on the wrong stop and police getting called they sent a teacher home on every bus with a list of all the kids and what stop is theirs so when the bus makes a stop the teacher calls the name and if your name is called you get off and if its not, your stuck on the bus...much better, love it and they got badges for their backpacks which are color coded with their bus color and their name on it with their student id so if they do get lost, you can call the school and they will have all of their info there, LOVE IT!!! Well, needless to say this first day was pretty uneventful but that is probably good although I do realize it makes for a boring story :) I did however manage to capture this dad walking behind me...notice the fanny pack around his waste..he carried a water bottle in it, a still camera and a video camera, he would rotate between each camera so he could capture each step the child made on the way to school...look close at the picture, he is still video taping him. This is going to be a great year for Emma she got the teacher we wanted and looks forward to going each day!

OMG! (I said goodness in case you are wondering) That family and that dad is in Carson's class! I was dying watching him. I swear Carson and I are on 1/2 of his freaking video tape of that morning. Freaks I tell you! We couldn't even get into Carson's class because they kept alternating between video and still pics. Ahhhhhhh! I swear I hope I never look that pathetic! If you ever want to know where to find "Mr. Overprepared Dad" you come by room 9 at school any time....Oh by the way I now know why you like Mario Kart. Hello last June's Blog. Joel wants to know why you are holding back on the toys...and you are complaining about a car payment...Ha! Whatever! :)

I'm glad I'm not the only parent that gets sad when their kid starts school and wants to be there every minute. My daughter starts Kindergarten on Tuesday and every time I think of it the tears just start coming. So I wouldn't be so sad I signed up for everything. I have even thought about joining the PTA.

Emma looks so cute on her 1st day back to school. I already know what I want Ry to wear to kindergarten and I bet she will be the same way and pick out what she wants. I love how Emma's fingers and toes are painted. What's funny is that Ry was looking at your blog with me and said I want my nails polished for school like Emma. You are so funny that you followed her to school, but I would TOTALLY do the same thing and want to capture the "perfect" pic. Not to mention that you are the best mom and already volunteered the first day and wrote her a note:). I am sure I will be the same way. The pic of the dad with his son is hilarious that he really is recording him even in the pic. Have a great week Carol Ann.

Let's hear it for boredom. Life is so much easier with it. Besides, to those whose love your family, none of this is boredom!

Wow, thats a giant fanny pack! I had to say that first, cuz it was the last thing I saw and still on my mind. But of course the most important thing is how cute Emma looks and what a good Mom you are to let her pick out her own clothes on the first day. She looks adorable! None of my kids were allowed to pick out their clothes. Well, Cameron kinda did. He didn't like the outfit I picked out so after making a pouty face, I put it back, and feeling guilty he chose it anyway.
And how nice you are to let Emma pick out what breakfast she could have! It was Cinnamon Toast Crunch (plus some apple slices that maybe one of them ate) for my kids. We had to leave at like 7:30 am! And we were still late! We left at 7:15 today. Way too early for my lazy butt.
So now after reading Jaimelynn's comment I am wondering what grade that kid was in. ? I hope it was kindergarten and it was their first kid.
Anyhow, its fun to see little Emma with her lunch and her backpack, and her little 1st grade smile. Can't wait to see you guys on Sunday!!
p.s. are you going to do the Hubby tag??

Emma is so stinkin cute! I do remember last years post- happy to hear it went much better. That dad with the video camera cracks me up and that you took a picture of him makes me laugh even more. How fun you were able to go with her. I'm sure she loved that.

Ok, so 1 ?...how did you snap that pic of the "crazy 1st day of school parents" with the video camera...so funny and BRAVE!!

Emma is so cute! She looked excited for school. And I too have had a child get lost at school...Dylan on the first day of Kindergarten was sent on a bus to who knows where and he was a "parent pick up"...YAH, I went a little psycho on that one!!! Nothing is scarier than that! I am glad things went smoother for you and Emma.

Your babies are so cute! You are totally Super Woman, I know how hard it is to have lots of little ones, and I am sure twins are even more challenging. Way to go!
