FOURTH OF JULY!

Our 4th of July was just perfect for us this year. Low key, low stress and amazing weather! It rained in the morning so we went outside and threw the frisbee and football around in the greenbelt and took in the rain! After that we went inside and played games and colored and then we headed over to Grandma Joyce's house for some BBQ and swimming. Next it was on to Jared's favorite part, NAPS! Emma and I did our own thing while all the boys napped and then after dinner we headed over to our favorite spot to watch fireworks. We stopped and got drinks from Circle K - a fan favorite in our house. We played with glow in the dark necklaces and threw more balls around. The kiddos all loved the fireworks and pointed out things like, "that was Christmas colors!," "AWESOME!," etc. It was a great relaxing day had by all!

I kept Tyler's eyes red on purpose - gave more character to this pic, ha ha

2 MORE SILLY STORIES FOR THE FAMILY JOURNAL

Last night  Eli grabbed the twins, had them lay down on him then asked them if he's a nice big brother :)
Today I overheard the boys playing with their superheros and Tyler asked, "why are you guys fighting?" and Eli said,  "we are saving the world!!"

A SHARING KIND OF DAY!

Today is a good day, just little things happened that made me smile and melted my heart.

Eli came home from Poplar Flat Farms camp today and they learned about worms and other things and he sat down and told his brothers all about his day and then even shared his own gummy worms with them just to be nice.

A little bit later, Eli went swimming with his friend so I took the other 3 out to lunch and Emma wanted to try the boys drink and I told her she could get that kind next time, but they each took a turn without being asked and asked her if she would like to try theirs, so nice!

Then as we were walking the twins ran up to each to other and grabbed hands and held on, awhhh.

BOYS AT THE LAKE!

Jared and his brothers, dad, Eli, Brylee and Hudson all got together one day in May and headed to the lake for a day of fun! The twins of course were super sad they didn't get to go, but Eli was very sweet and assured them that it wouldn't be any fun anyways (every once and a while is lying is awesome).

Eli got to drive the boat...
They swam in the lake (yuck!)...
Eli LOVED riding on the tube...
Some one on the tube might have been a little scared so they had to drive it slow...Eli got bored with it going slow and grandpa thought it was funny how he was riding around so he copied him...
and the big boys even did a little body surfing...
The boys had a great time and Eli was super happy he went. He did have to leave early though because he had his first tournament baseball game that night and we needed him to get home and rest up! Thanks for doing this for everyone Uncle Nate!

MCC GRADUATION!

Natalie and I used to refer to MCC (Mesa Community College) as MC Cool - it still totally is if any of you were wondering and not getting our sarcasm. I hate math. I hate school. I am not good at it. Why bother. That's my thoughts on the whole thing, although I suppose if I actually applied myself, I might be semi-good at it.

I never finished my AA because I couldn't pass math to save my life. I believe I dropped it 4 times, and yes, since Caryn will read this and want me to add this, I did indeed drop the class when I took it with my little sister who was still in high school and she ended up passing with an A. Whatever.

My patriarchal blessing says that the key to my future is an education. I like to think that means street cred, I totally have that, jk. I have always thought I should finish my dang AA and just be done with it. I was only 4 classes short anyways, 2 science lectures, 1 lab and of course my dang math. Now that Emma is getting older, I wanted her to know the importance of having an education, even if I didn't. I also, figured since she is so smart she would realize that I didn't have one and could throw that in my face so I needed to be an example to her. I finally decided to go back to school and just finish my AA.

I started out my first semester with a geography lab and lecture, woo hoo! Easy peasy. I got through the class no problem, didn't even really study and still ended up with a B - quite proud of myself (kids, don't follow my example).

Halfway through the semester it was time to meet with a counselor to make sure I had the classes I needed to finish and graduate in May. This counselor was the most amazing person I will meet for the next several years. After we talked for a bit he informed me that I could graduate with AGS (Associate in General Studies) instead of AA and that way I wouldn't have to take the last math class. After he assured me several times it was legit and was really possible, I told him I could make-out with him right then and then quickly followed it up with, "if you are wrong, so help me I will hunt you down and I am not even kidding!"

I signed up for my last class which ended up being a nutrition class. I thought this would be fun and easy since I like to eat and it would be nice to learn a few things that would make me skinny. This class was not that at all. It was hard. I did not have any science back ground and I did not have any other nutrition classes under my belt either. So I did the next best thing, I played the mother card. I realized last semester that when attending a community college the teachers like you a lot more and go a lot easier on you when they realize you are not fresh out of high school and that I am a mom of 4 just trying to get an education. It worked. I passed with another B, despite my failing the mid-term and final, woo hoo!

Yes, I did send out graduation announcements, I thought Jared and I were quite funny with them (and we might have peed a little from laughing so hard while taking the pictures and putting the announcement together). I also, walked. Total nerd, I know. The reason behind me walking was not for myself, but for Emma. I did this for her, so she could see the importance of it. If I were just going to get a piece of paper in the mail (which still hasn't come) she wouldn't get it, or understand it. I had to walk in the cap and gown and make her sit through the ceremony. It worked. She was excited.

My parents, husband and boys were not that excited about attending but they put on their best faces. After they called my name after sitting there for 2 hours, I sent a text to Jared saying, if you are willing to get up and leave in the middle, I will too. He did. I walked out while they were still reading off names. I know totally rude to the other graduates, but to the people sitting next to my boys, you are welcome!

Graduation secretly ended up being kinda fun. I was actually more proud of myself then I thought I would be. Emma had a dance competition that night and her studio changed her dance time to earlier so Emma and I could sneak out right after she danced and make it on time. I was really grateful for everyone being so supportive of my little lame graduation and sending cards, little gifts and even dropping off fun surprises - I should graduate more often, ha ha!

With the graduation announcement, we attached this little piece of paper :)

Hello Friends :)

Jared and I decided we made this graduation announcement so good you might actually think we were being serious with the pictures and what not, so we thought it would be best to include a little note to make sure you all were laughing with me and not at me!  I am graduating with my AA in a couple of weeks and I decided to walk so that my kids would be there and see the importance of going to college. I decided a piece of paper in the mail wouldn’t mean anything to them, so we are all going to suffer in the heat for 2 long boring hours to watch me walk, this is why I am wicked awesome :) Please enjoy the announcement as much as we did, while we peed our pants laughing at the “serious” poses we took. Happy Day!                         ~ Love, Carol

Me waiting in some waiting hall for an hour before we could march in...
Before they call your name, they make you stand and take a picture with a dipolma...
Jared took this picture of me on the big screen after they called my name....
After we snuck out of the ceremony early I took a few pictures before my parents left, Jared left (yes, he ditched me for his friends) and then me and the kiddos just went home.
The week of graduation got pretty crazy with Emma having a dance competition on Friday night, which never happens and Eli had baseball practice with ex-pro baseball players that night so it was looking like walking was going to just be to much so my mom said that if I didn't walk she would take me to lunch, well, I walked and she still took me :)

TWINS TURN 4!

Seriously 4 already?! How are my babies growing up so fast?! I wish I could stop and reverse time and nuggle on them some more.

They were super excited to have a birthday, officially be 4 (they had been telling people they were 4 for a while) and they could not wait to have their birthday party!

We kept it simple this year because the first 2 weeks of June were insane so we just had their little friends over and had a water party, nothing fancy. They jumped on the trampoline with water, played musical water buckets, squirted water guns at each other forever, had a water balloon fight, played hot potato with a wet sponge, ate lunch, opened presents and did a pinata (we forget to do the cake, oops).
Someone's butt crack :) (schmeelof's)
After the party was over the twins played with their loot for a bit and then took naps. For dinner we met Grandpa and Grandma Rodgers and Grandma Jensen down at Joe's Farm Grill and ate dinner and opened more presents! The boys were exhausted by the end of the night, but had such a great day :)
Stats:
Tyler:
weight - 33 lbs, 9.6 oz (25-50%)
height - 39.75 in (25-50%) - this is not acurate, he was slouchy and not standing up straight - he is about 41 inches tall!
BMI - 15.0 (25-50%)

Tyson:
weight - 34 lbs, 3.2 oz (25-50%)
height - 39 in (10-25%) - this is very exciting to us, we need him to be 40 inches by the time we go to Disneyland in Jan and we keep telling him to eat his healthy food so he will grow tall :)
BMI - 15.8 (50-75%)

ANOTHER DANCE RECITAL DOWN...

And another one bites the dust, another down, another down, another bites the dust!

We survived another dance recital weekend! Its a good thing Em loves it so much or else I would wonder if it is all worth it. To throw into the mix of recital weekend, Eli had his State Championship Baseballs games Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday night and oh yes, Sunday morning (but that's another blog post).

Despite whatever else is going on in our life, when we get to see Emma up on stage and how she lights up, everything in the world seems perfect, for at least 3 minutes :) Emma danced in 3 shows with 9 dances....don't worry I am only posting a few pictures, ha ha!

Contemporary (Toxic) by Chris - AMAZING!!!! We loved seeing her dance in a way she never has before!

Emma's small musical theatre group (Ring Them Bells - this is the dance that cleans up every competition they compete it in, although I shouldn't jinx myself before Nationals)

Lyrical (Make Us One)
Production Number (Wonderland - seriously one of the best numbers ever, the crowds go crazy and these kids freaking rock it!)

Emma's fantastic adoring fans who come out and watch her!
Brandon and Karli

Grandma Jensen

Grandpa Jensen
Caryn and Cade
Not pictured: Her fabulous parents, my parents and her wonderful 3rd and 4th grade teacher, Ms. Landorf!

You would think after dancing who knows how many hours that weekend that one would be tired and want to get a break, not so much with Emma, here she was practicing the next day while the rest of us were taking naps!
Then on Monday we have Sunsplash all day, here is the only picture I have of Sunsplash! Ha Ha
