UVU ESPIRT 2023!

Emma had her last UVU Espirt Hip Hop Company Performance! We are sad to see her dancing come to an end, but grateful for the extra 2 years we got! And fun to see her dance for her college! Sadly, she won't have time to do it next year with it being her senior year and they are adding more practices and her school load won't allow it. She loved this year! I even love that at the end after their last perfomance and before she came home for the summer her and several dance friends would get together and go to dinner and hang out! This team was good for her! I loved how she always had a friend to give her a ride home when rehersals would end so late! We LOVE watching our girl up on stage doing her dance thing! This year She had several friends come out and support her and of course, Ashley and Blake! We love Marty and Lexi! We've never given Emma flowers after a recital, performance, competition, state champs, nothing...so we figured since this was the end it would seem fitting! Emma really does light up on stage and we love being there to watch it! We even snuck in a quick little UVU baseball game in honor of Eli! CONGRATS Emma on dancing for 14 years!!

ONE WEEK TILL SURGERY!

This week is a long week, next week is a long week and I thought I was holding my crap together, but last night when I was running an errand for Emma on the way home the car started smoking from under the hood and I pulled over and waited for Jared to come. Then he came, looked it over and called for a tow. While we waited I broke. I cried. I couldn't handler anymore on my plate. Then Jared held me and hugged me and reminded me that it would all be ok! He is my rock. My world. My best friend. Then we came home and I couldn't think anymore and I was tapped. Tonight as I sit here I am reminded of all the little tender mercies I have.

1. The car is going to be a quick fix. 2. The tow truck guy came super fast. 3. We called up a baseball palyer (Hatcher) who dropped everything and went to pick up Eli from umpiring while we waited for a tow truck. 4. I got my nails done and cried some more. 5. i got to watch Eli play in his game with our good friend Julie. 6. I got to race over and watch the twins finish their game. 7. A friend brought my boys home for me so we could finish up at ALA. 8. We went to dinner with some good friends and got to escape life for a little bit.

As I sit here and mame things off - it seems like no big deal, every day things, but today....today they meant the world to me!

(Since I am writing this in August I can actually add what else we did leading up to surgery)

We snuck in a quick trip to the Mesa Temple before surgery knowing it would be the last time Jared could go for a while.

We went up to Utah the weekend before surgery to watch Emma in her very last dance concert! It was a long weekend, but great to spend that much needed time with her. We even ordered a prostate cake to celebrate Jared losing his. The cake decorator did NOT want us to tell her husband what it was for (weirdo) and we read a tribute to prostate and how well it has served him for 47 years, but now we needed to retire him.

Thank you Blake and Ashley for coming to the concert with us, letting us stay at your place and helping with the grownup celebration - ha ha! We were hoping Emma would be celebrating with us, but she went out and partied it up with her dance team - way more fun and cool!

EASTER WEEKEND 2023!

It was another jammed packed full of fun Easter Weekend! Thursday night we had all of my family over for dinner and a glow in the dark Easter Egg hunt! All the Rodgers grandkids loved it! Friday morning the kids had school off and I headed off to the stake YW/YM softball tournament. Eli was really bummed he had a game later that day because he really wanted to go, but he didn't want to mess up his swing, swinging at crap all day so he skipped it even though the ward was super bummed they didn't have him. I showed up part way through the game and we had kids without gloves, we were losing, there was no effort on our part. So I made sure we turned it around. Before the next game started I had gloves for everyone (thanks Jared for bringing some down), Bishop  put together a batting line up and I paid some really tall high school boys to join our ward - kids will do anything for cash - we went on to win the next 3 games - our ward was loving it!! Eli had a baseball game and they won! That night all of our kids disappeared, but Jared and I still went to the Bell/Jolley Glow in the dark Easter Egg hunt anyways - I wanted to see my Chandler friends. Saturday all the Jensens came over for a big lunch, Easter egg hunt, games, etc. Tyler had a poky wire and we even got Dr Hunsaker to make a house call and swing by and cut his wire for him - what a difference it made, we went from being all quiet to Mr Talkative. Sunday morning we went to church and then the boys had their Easter Egg hunt from the Bunny. This year they figured out the Bunny hides all cash so they were scrambling to get as many eggs as they could! Then we headed over to Grandma and Grandpa Rodgers house to eat dinner over there! We were so grateful for Bryant and Taryn for inviting Emma over to their house for Easter dinner so she wouldn't be alone - she actually got invited to Ashley's house too. Eternally grateful for family who take care of our kids when they are far from us!
